Director SMART Infrastructure Facility, University of Wollongong
Prof Pascal Perez is the Director of the SMART Infrastructure Facility (SMART), University of Wollongong (UOW). He has a 30-year experience in advanced data analytics and simulation to explore complex interactions within social and technological systems. He has led significant projects ranging from population health to urban planning. He is also serving on Urban Growth NSW’s University Roundtable as UOW’s representative and on the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network’s National Academic Committee. More recently, Prof Perez was invited to join the Infrastructure Data Collection and Dissemination Steering Committee, set up by Minister Paul Fletcher PM. Beyond scientific excellence and impact, Prof Perez has successfully steered SMART’s financial viability and sustainable growth. In 2017, he has launched Wollongong’s Digital Living Lab, a regional initiative that will bring together public and private sectors, alongside associations and communities to deploy community-oriented smart city solutions focusing on health, safety and environmental issues.
